Following its highly successful Kent schools tour and parliamentary performance, Generation FOMO arrives at the prestigious Gulbenkian Theatre for one day only.
Performed by 43 incredibly talented A-Level drama students from the Canterbury Acting Academy, this powerful verbatim play by Isabelle Defaut is drawn entirely from the real-life testimonies of young people. The play explores the unfiltered reality of navigating the digital world, showing exactly how smartphones and social media shape youth wellbeing, relationships and identity.
This performance marks a significant milestone: a symbolic passing of the baton from Portrait Theatre over to local schools and beyond, empowering their drama departments to champion these vital conversations for themselves.

The Lunchtime Matinee (For Local Schools)
Time: 1:00 – 2:30 pm
Audience: Specially programmed for students in Years 8 & 9.
Details: Includes the live performance followed by an interactive post-show panel discussion.
Tickets: Free for partner schools. Spaces are limited to approximately 60 seats per school and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Evening Performance & Pledge Launch (Open to All)
Time: 7pm
Audience: Open to parents, students, educators, and the wider community.
Details: The evening marks a significant moment for our community with the official launch of the ‘Canterbury Pledge’, linking the play with its intended social impact. The Canterbury district schools’ pledge is a shared commitment by local schools to protect the space and time children need to thrive.
The performance will be followed by a panel discussion where you are invited to share your thoughts.
